Dr. Adam J. Del Torto, BS, DC, is a 1984 graduate of New York Chiropractic College. Dr. Adam presently has two successful practices in Burbank and Catalina Island, California.
Dr. Adam started his professional practice as an associate doctor in Oyster Bay, NY, in 1985 under his mentor Dr. Rob Romanelli. During that time Dr. Adam was selected as one of the few chiropractors to organize and conduct scoliosis examinations on grade school children in the state of New York. This was a pioneer event, being the first time a Doctor of Chiropractic was allowed to participate in scoliosis screenings in the New York public school system.
Dr. Adam went back to undergraduate college and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Life Science from New York Institute of Technology in 1985 - graduating Cum Laude. While in undergraduate college, Dr. Adam participated in groundbreaking biofeedback research under Dr. Bertram Spector, PhD, when biofeedback was in the dawn of its existence.
Dr. Adam was also actively involved in developing the Collegiate Inter-professional Committee - an organization designed to enhance inter professional relationships between health professions through communication and education for the common good of the patient.
Dr. Del Torto moved back to his hometown of Lompoc, CA, in 1986, where he developed a very successful practice with two associate doctors. While in Lompoc, he was active in various community projects, including the "Leadership Lompoc Valley" program - a select group of individuals who elicited leadership qualities, and took part in an extensive 12 month program which concentrated on community development, local issues, and political concerns.
Dr. Adam was also an active member of several international organizations, including the Rotary Club where he was responsible for organizing and hosting the annual district convention for the high school Interact Club, a major project involving over 200 students from 13 different high schools. Dr. Del Torto moved from Lompoc in 1994 at which time he started a marketing company called DC Products, which marketed unique chiropractic educational and promotional products. He authored a chiropractic educational coloring book for children called “Chiro Kids”, which is now in its second edition and distributed nationwide.
Dr. Adam uses an integrative approach to treatment incorporating a combination of Diversified chiropractic adjusting techniques, SOT procedures, and Cranial Facial Release (CFR) – a specialized “balloon assisted” cranial adjusting technique that he developed, which evolved from an earlier form of endo-nasal cranial adjusting called Bilateral Nasal Specific (BNS).
Dr. Adam is the founder and developer of Cranial Facial Release technique which is credentialed through Life West University and recognized as an acceptable and viable technique throughout the chiropractic community. CFR is a unique cranial adjusting procedure that generates a lot of excitement + a high level of interest throughout the profession. CFR often works with last resort patients who have not responded to other forms of conventional treatment - for such things as breathing disorders, migraine headaches, facial pain, facial paralysis, vertigo, learning disorders, neurological disorders, and especially Traumatic Brain Injuries and Post-Concussion Syndrome.
Dr. Adam has lectured on this specialized cranial procedure at multiple chiropractic forums in both the U.S. and abroad, including Spain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, New Zealand, and Malaysia. He has been featured as the mainstage speaker for the Annual CCA Convention, New Beginnings Seminar, SOTO-USA, and at the first ever Axiom Convention in Brussels, Belgium. He teaches CFR seminars on an international basis which are eligible for Continuing Education Credits for licensed Chiropractors.
Dr. Adam has been featured on the E-Channel, Celebrity News Magazine, and The Randy Alverez “Wellness Hour”, which attracted international attention. CFR is gaining momentum on an exponential basis as it gains recognition throughout the chiropractic profession.

I came to medicine in a round-about way. I majored in Sociology and received both a BA and MA in sociology with an emphasis on Health Policy and then went to The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following medical school, I did an osteopathic rotating internship at Cook County Stroger Hospital followed by an OSF Saint Francis Hospital (University of Illinois Peoria Program) and then a General Internal Medicine Fellowship also at the University of Illinois, this time in Chicago. During medical school, residency and throughout my career, I have worked with community health centers and have a passion for health policy, medically underserved populations, coordinated care and medical education. I served as the interim Regional Director of Medical Education for the AT Still- SOMA’s program at San Ysidro Health (SYH) and then transitioned to the SYH Internal Medicine Residency program where I am currently the Director of Research and Quality Improvement, Chair of the clinical competency committee and San Ysidro Health Clinic Site Director. In these roles I work 100% building curriculum, supervising residents in the outpatient setting and supervising their required research/QI programs.
Born in San Diego California and raised in the small town of Ocean Beach she always appreciated the community. She went to Point Loma High School and went on to get her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry at UC, San Diego La Jolla. Always with a passion for medicine and love for community, she felt the call to medicine as a vocation of service she wanted to pursue and took the extra pre-med courses needed to apply to medical school. She was accepted at her Alma Mater UCSD and completed her Medical Degree and then completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Scripps Mercy San Diego. Dr. Lamantia then went to serve in a small community practice in Lakeside, California with Dr. JanSturkow and enjoyed the flexibility of a clinic practice combined with her hospital skills maintaining privileges at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.
With the advent of “hospitalist” programs many hospitals found it more cost effective to retain their own Internal Medicine staff and Dr. Lamantia moved onto a position with Kaiser Permanente at their Clairmont facility with 2800 patients on her panel to manage. Upon retiring from Kaiser in 2008 Dr. Lamantia sought a part-time position and sought to return to the community medicine she had enjoyed out of training.
Working with a culturally diverse and underserved population she found she was able to enjoy the rewards of service to her community and has stayed with SYHealth now for 13 years. She currently serves as the Director of the SYHealth Chronic Pain Program, Chief of Internal Medicine, and Internal Medicine Program Director.
