Dr. Kenneth Light is a spinal surgeon who is originally from New York. He was an all-American springboard diver at Cornell University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts majoring in genetics. He graduated from Weill Cornell Medical College in Manhattan and then completed an internship and residency at UCSD San Diego and UCSF San Francisco. He then completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at UCSF and then completed a fellowship in spinal surgery under the tutelage of Edward H. Simmons, specializing in failed spinal surgery and spinal deformity. He returned to San Francisco and started the San Francisco Spine Center at St. Francis Hospital. He is currently in private practice and has completed more than 10,000 spinal surgeries over a 45-year period. He believes all patients should be treated conservatively and is interested in motion preservation. He is among the most experienced disc replacement surgeons in the United States today. He is often referred to as “the doctor of last resort” since many of his patients have conditions that are considered hopeless by many other doctors. He has offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rancho Mirage, Ontario, Irvine, and San Diego.
