Lisa M. (Perry) Portera, DC, IFMCP, received her medical education from the Southern California University of Health Sciences, College of Chiropractic. With over 30 years of experience in clinical practice combined with 18+ years of educating physicians of all disciplines in the principles and clinical application of Functional Medicine, both nationally and internationally, she is a passionate advocate of Functional Medicine and its application for patients presenting with a wide variety of structural, neuromuscular, metabolic and autoimmune-related chronic illness. Dr. (Perry) Portera has owned and operated private clinical practices as well as been the principle integrative doctor of chiropractic in several cutting-edge integrative medical center settings, including Sutter Health’s Integrative branch: The Institute for Health & Healing in Marin and Santa Rosa, CA. She has worked extensively with head and neck trauma and holds certification in craniosacral, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) therapy, Functional Medicine, lifestyle medicine and applies these tools to the assessment of many chronic health issues. She has extensive post-graduate training in gastrointestinal health, women’s health, pregnancy and pediatric health. She has worked extensively on the development of functional medicine programs in the Philippines and the U.A.E., teaching physicians how to leverage lifestyle and nutritional medicine to address chronic inflammatory and metabolic disease and improve chronic pain. Currently, she is an Integrative Doctor of Chiropractic; is on the advisory board for GrowBaby Health, as well as Faculty for the Institute for Functional Medicine and adjunct faculty at Bastyr University in San Diego, CA, where she teaches 4th year naturopathic students on the application of Functional Medicine Principles to address complex chronic inflammatory and autoimmune disease. She is also the Director of Program Education, for Orthomolecular Products.
