The shoulder girdle can be a complicated structure to evaluate and treat. The advent of diagnostic imaging advances and other procedures has provided more information, but we are often left with the difficult decision of which treatment is best for this patient. Our assessment tools, especially our orthopedic tests, are often limited. It is often easy to revert to what we “can or want” to do.
This session will cover the assessment of common shoulder injuries with a focus on instability, labral and SLAP tears, and impingement syndrome. We will assess the best cluster of tests that help the clinician with better sensitivity / specificity and accuracy to diagnose these conditions to assist in the determination if imaging is necessary. Hands-on practice will hopefully provide the clinician with tools to apply in their practice.
