The Art and Science of “Health” - The Future of the Hemp Plant as Medicine

CalChiro's Fall 2021 Conference presents "The Art and Science of “Health” - The Future of the Hemp Plant as Medicine" with speaker Dr. Alyson Evans.

Helping our patients with their pain, sleep and mental health issues continues to be one of the biggest opportunities for healthcare providers today. The first known records of the cannabis plant being utilized for medicinal and healing purposes dates back to 4500 BC.  The landscape of our understanding of cannabinoid science and its role in our overall health is changing everyday. In this talk, a evidenced based review of the therapeutic applications of cannabinoid medicine will be presented in the areas of pain, sleep, and mental health.  This talk is a refreshing reminder that for  thousands of years, how we cared for ourselves and each other was not ‘alternative medicine’; it was the only medicine.

In this talk we will:

  1. Discuss CBD effects on pain, inflammation, sleep and mental health

  2. Understand the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and it’s importance in regulating many biological systems

  3. Understand the different types of CBD products and the differences in mechanism of actions between topical and ingestible CBD products

  4. Discuss our current understanding of how cannabinoid products are digested and metabolized and the advancements in cannabinoid science to improve their efficacy in overall absorption.

  5. Discuss the importance of 3rd party testing in the CBD industry

  6. Understand CBD dosing and how to incorporate CBD into your care plans
